-when locked out of a mailbox the best thing to try first is to contact the post office that services the mailbox and see if they offer lockout services.

- if a lockout service is not offered by the post office then the lock will need to be picked or drilled out which is best left to a professional locksmith and it is not recommended that you attempt these yourself as causing damage to the lock may make it harder and subsequently more expensive for a locksmith to perform the necessary service.
